Dayle Steffen – Why I train BJJ

Dayle Steffen in Blue GI

My family and friends have all commented on how much I have changed (in good ways) since joining BJJ “

BJJ for me has had a huge impact on my life. I originally joined to try and learn some self-defense, and also thought it would be some good physical exercise. What I found instead though was that BJJ has provided me so much more than what I was looking for. It has indeed taught me some self-defense, and gotten me very physically active, but in the process, it has also greatly improved my confidence and self-esteem, as well as my mental health.

It’s been an avenue for me to become a part of a community of people who are welcoming and support each other, and work hard at the sport to better themselves and push one another to do so as well. The comradery at the gym is such a great feeling, whether people are just sitting around talking before class, or genuinely happy for someone when they get promoted, and it makes going to class a great experience. My family and friends have all commented on how much I have changed (in good ways) since joining BJJ, and from the first class, its become a passion of mine that I didn’t even know I had.
